Affiliate Marketing - The Best Online Money Making Idea!

For anyone wanting to make a little money, the most popular idea is always affiliate marketing. The principle is very simple, find products that offer commissions and make sales. The reality is that it is not always easy to make sales with affiliate marketing. There is a science to ensuring that your products are placed in front of interested eyes and by understanding this science and following three rules - you will make sales and will continue to do so endlessly. In this lens, I will explain exactly what the three rules are, how to follow them and what you will then be able to achieve with future campaigns. Before we get started, I want to explain the basic layout of how you can market affiliate products and where you need to get your traffic from. The most important aspect of selling is having people look at your products. The cheapest way to achieve this is through getting people who search for products through search engines to find your information when they do a search. This means that you want to rank on the first or second page of google so that you can get a slice of that free marketing. Your alternatives generally cost a lot of money and the idea is to make money not spend it.There is a lot of information out there about google ranking and seo, but for a beginner, this can be very complicated. I'm about to simplify it here to help you get a jumpstart!
Rule #1.
Keyword Research - Finding Good Keywords
Rule #1.
Keyword Research
Finding a good keyword! How and Where?

The very first rule is finding a good keyword. This is more important than anything else and a good keyword consists of a few important things. Your Good Keyword should have~ High Search Volume~ Low Competition~ Beatable Competition~ Commercial ValueSo how high is high search volume and how low is low competition and what is beatable competition and where do I find out about commercial value.Let's start with high search volume. The easiest way to check the search volume of a product is to use one of the two google search tools. The first Google Keyword Tool , original, is great for finding out how many searches certain keywords have. The second, Google SK Keyword Tool will help you delve a little deeper.Lets take an example:- If you want to sell a body building program.Enter the website into the google search tool and look through the keywords that have around 1500 - 6000 searches per month. These are a great place to start looking. Now you want to ensure that there is a limited amount of competition and the best way to do this is to open a google page and type the keyword into the google search box with "on either side" of the keywordeg:- "Build Up Muscle" By typing it in "" you find out how many websites are in competition with your keyword - In this case there are 53000 sites , but there are about 178 searches a day for this keyword so the competion is relevant. My guide is usually - for up to 50 searches a day - the competition - less than 15,000.* for 50 - 100 , less than 50,000* for 100 up , anything less than 100,000But wait, this is just the start - make a short list of all the keywords that have a decent amount of searches with low competition and then lets break it down a liitle further. You need to know that the competition is beatable - otherwise you're dead in the water! So here goes rule #2.
Rule #2.
Competition Analysis - Can You Donimate?
Rule #2.
- Competition Analysis
Beating the competition - Exactly How?
So you have a list of keywords and you want to know which one you should work with. The thing that you really want to do is to ensure that google wants YOU on their first page for that keyword. The things that they look at are~ How old your website is~ What pagerank your website has~ How many backlinks you have to that page of your website~ How many backlinks you have to your whole website~ How many backlinks you have from gov or edu sites.~ The Quality of your backlinks. The only way to get on the first page is to make sure that you can beat any other website on the first page with the best of the list above, but if you have only just started your website, then you are not going to have much luck at all. It's time to find some friends and your best friends are sites that allow you to write and promote on their website. Your first and probably your best friend will probably be Squidoo. They are six years old and you'll have a page 2 rank immediately. The other friends are~ ezinearticles~ associated content~ hubpages~ articlesbaseThe idea is now to check to see if any of these pages feature on the first page of any of your keywords. If they do - you're in for a treat.Lets take a look at our example again - Build Up MuscleThis keyword has ezinearticles in position one and two of google. This means that if you write a quality article and can improve on the statistics of the articles in one of those two posititions, you could take their position. What you need to do now is to dominate that keyword in ezinearticles.** IMPORTANT REMINDER **You need to know that ezinearticles does not allow for you to market your affiliate hoplinks, so you need to direct your ezinearticle to a squidoo page that promotes the product. Before you go writing any articles in ezinearticles though, you need to check if the article is beatable and the only way to do that is to check if that article has backlinks and how many AND OF WHAT QUALITY - if you want to take it's place you need to better it's backlinks now.Checking backlinks can be done easily. There are a lot of free backlink checker services online. In this case there is only one backlink and the backlink ranking is not high - you're on your way now. Go on and write a great article and the next step is to start building some backlinks to your ezinearticle as soon as it launches. For those that are new to ezinearticles, this will take around seven days before it launches, but the longer you are a memeber and the more articles you write, the quicker that process becomes. But wait, you've got one more check to do before you even begin to write your article. Is this product going to sell? No point in spending a minute trying to do anything if the product is no good - right!
Rule #3.
Commercial Value - Can You Sell It?
Rule #3.
Commercial Value
How much is your product worth?
Time to do a little more research. Check out how much ppc are paying to market with your keyword - check to see what others on the first page are selling through ppc. Also check to see what organic google traffic is offering on the first page. If your product is worth anything, there will already be a market and people will be buying.Using pay per click to see if there is commercial value to your product is the best option. Most people don't spend money on google pay per click unless they are making money - well most people! You're almost there - time to write your article in ezinearticle or any other article website that features on the first page of google. Remember to consider hubpages as an article site, they don't like you to market products there and will close your account down.Until your article launches, take the time to improve your squidoo lens and build it into something of value - remember that all the traffic is going through your article to your lens and then to the product! Keep the transition from one to the other smooth!Remember to complete all your checks on your keyword before you invest any time in it. Keyword searches take the most amount of time, and then you have your lens to build and your articles to write. At all times remember to keep offering information of value, if you are just after the money - then you won't make as much. People know when you are offering information that is useful and when you ar in for the hard sell.
How Long Does It Take To Succeed?
Affiliate marketing seldom results in instant wealth. The commissions vary from a few dollars to a few hundred, but with consistant work, you can achieve a substantial income. There are two different approaches to affiliate marketing. Some people prefer to work in just one or two niche markets. They will search deep into keywords in a profitable market in order to find niche areas that have not been tapped into and will develop large campaigns around these niches.Others may decide to work on a large variety of products having just single page sites for a wide range of products and spending less time on a particular niche. This will depend on your keyword searches and what you find and how often you may want to change topics and also how easily you find writing about topics that you may know little about without sounding like you know nothing.Neither way is right or wrong, just personal preference. Writing persuasive articles is vital to getting people looking at your product pages. If you are able to offer information of value in your articles, then you are more likely to have them be interested in what you are trying to sell. Always make sure that your articles are original - written by yourself. For those just starting out, using free keyword search tools and finding backlinks manually is the best option as you won't be spending any money on these services, but as with any business, in time you will want to invest in software to help you achieve results a little faster. ~That way you can spend your valuable time on the things that matter the most, like producing quality information that will lead to sales. There are a variety of different softwares available online - some will only help you with your keyword searches, others will help you to check backlinks and quality of backlinks, while other still will help you to build your backlinks.I personally use two different softwares to achieve the results I want, one to check and the second to double check and delve deaper. My keyword search takes around one hour of my day and then I'm able to work on my articles and lenses. The second checks backlinks and competition for me and tells me exactly what I need to do in order to beat the competition.
